Last week I visited the studio of my friend and colleague Sue Dennis. We were experimenting with making a handmade edition for my upcoming show.  We looked at cloth covers, paper types and finishing details… by the end of the day Sue had assembled a mock-up. I am now pondering over a few finishing touches before our next session. Variations…

A few weeks back on Burn magazine, David Alan Harvey asked “Is paper hot, or not?” he was thinking about the future of books in light of the iPad and the digital revolution. I think there will always be a place for books. There is something special, something tactile about the book experience that is lost in digital, the weight, the feel, even the smell… for me it’s a ritual, sitting in my favorite armchair, mug of tea or a glass of red and a couple of hours lost in a book or two…
